When one imagines a farmer, rarely do we picture a woman. But in actuality, about 1 in 2 indeed are. Women have always been the backbone of agriculture especially in rural societies around the globe despite ongoing inequalities, and Over Grow the System has created a platform to reintroduce this female narrative in Women Who Farm. With our lands in turmoil from overproduction, animal waste and chemical waste, reshaping our relationship with food is an urgent matter. And women have been leading the wave toward a permacultural revolution.
Vandana Shiva, an agricultural activist says, “We are either going to have a future where women lead the way to make peace with the earth, or we are not going to have a human future at all.”
Could it be our natural intuition that allows us to be better shepherds of the land?
