What the father of today's medicine said?

by Elizabeth Gilhuly, Contributor, Health Lifestyle Coach

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."

This famous quote that you are seeing more and more was first spoken some 2,500 years ago by Hippocrates of Kos.

"Hippocrates of Kos was a Greek physician of the Age of Pericles, and is considered one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine." (Wikipedia)

Inspired by Hippocrates, raw foodist Ann Wigmore created the Hippocrates Health Institute.

"Ms. Wigmore nurtured this seed, creating a comprehensive institute that encourages people to draw from their vast inner resources to transform the quality of their health and lives. The commitment to this inspired truth is embodied in Hippocrates Health Institute, a non-profit organization..."

Who is Ann Wigmore?

"Ann Wigmore (1909–1994) was a Lithuanian–American holistic health practitioner, nutritionist, whole foods advocate, author, and doctor of Divinity. Wigmore wrote several books on her theories and lectured widely to promote her practices." (Wikipedia)
