What is one thing Beyonce and Starbucks have in common? Well, besides Oprah. Apparently, both brands have put stakes in what some people are naming the new "vegan trend. "
Move over Nutrisystem and Jenny Craig, Beyonce's camp recently announced that she has partnered with her trainer, Marco Borges, to launch the new vegan meal delivery service, 22 Days Nutrition. Not too long after that made headlines, Starbucks announced that they have added coconut milk as another non-dairy alternative at their branches across the United States. Talk about the masses jumping on an already moving bandwagon. But don't let all this talk about veganism distract you from the true meaning of living a vegan lifestyle.
While many people have transitioned or are exploring a vegan lifestyle for health reasons, it's important to note that this way of life is about more than just ourselves. It's about creating a lifestyle that is better for all of us.
Can caring about what we put into our bodies and how that shapes the world be just a trend? While it may seem like it at the moment, I think not. Thanks to the age of information, people are truly becoming more aware of food: what that means for their bodies, their families, and this planet. It's impossible to "un-know" this information. And once we adopt a way of living that positively affects how we feel - not just in health, but in spirit, and mind - our entire world transforms.
So here's to everyone out there venturing into a more conscious way of existing. Here's to making consciousness a trend to last a lifetime.
