On April 25, 2015, Nepal was rocked by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and then another one equally powerful only 2 weeks later. Over 8,000 people lost their lives, while counless others lost everything they own. 2012 CNN Hero of the Year, Pushpa Basnet and the 45 children in her care -whose parents are incarcerated- were forced to evacutate their damaged residence. Basnet's "Butterfly Home" -- the permanent residence she was building for the children -- also suffered extensive damage in the quake. Basnet had hoped to complete construction in the next six months, with the opening ceremony set for October. She purchased the land for the home with prize money she received as the 2012 Hero of the Year. She now must start over.
Come out and open your heart and generate some good karma, enjoy good vibes, good music and good vegan treats all while helping others rebuild.
